Aug 26, 2021During the extraction of copper from chalcopyrite ore, the ore ( CuX2S ⋅ FeX2SX3) is heated to form CuX2S and FeS. Then during smelting it reacts with OX2 to form CuX2O . Then it is written that CuX2O reacts with FeS to form CuX2S. My question is that we started off with CuX2S then why did we convert it into CuX2O and then again get back to CuX2S?
ContactOct 01, 2021The copper extraction rates were determined by the dissolved copper in leaching liquor per the theoretical copper in chalcopyrite. A large amount of iron could dissolution in the solution along with the copper during the leach process of chalcopyrite.
ContactThe overall process is visualized to consist of low temperature chlorination-selective oxidation, followed by aqueous chloride leaching and SX-EW for producing electrolytic copper, elemental sulfur and ferric oxide. In this article, the chlorination phase of the process is described.
ContactAbout 3/4 th of Copper (Cu) produced in the world has come from Chalcopyrite (CuFeS 2 ), but it is the lowest standard ore of Copper. The method used to extract copper from its ores depends on the nature of the ore. Sulphide ores such as chalcopyrite are converted to copper by a different method from silicate, carbonate or sulphate ores.

ContactJul 01, 2017In the presence of air, oxygen or hydrogen peroxide or a mixture thereof, glycine can dissolve copper from chalcopyrite at either ambient or elevated (40–60 °C) temperatures and atmospheric pressure. Increasing temperature, pH, glycine concentration and DO concentration all increase the rate and extent of copper extraction.

ContactJan 01, 2012chalcopyrite ores are usually processed by means of hydrometallurgical or pyrometallurgical processes, but due to environmental aspects and the possibility of increased exploitation of mixed and lower grade ores and relatively small isolated deposits, there has been a worldwide upsurge of interest in the hydrometallurgical processes of this ore
